Join Anat Silvera, author of Enameling Made Easy, for a weekend of colorful metal!
Discover more to love about enameling! This workshop goes beyond Basic Enameling 1 to teach new and exciting techniques to add depth and dimension to your enamel jewelry by making soldered, cold and fused connections, and creating surface textures and effects. This course demonstrates using either the kiln or torches to fire your enamels.
Learn how to use hot and cold connections to join your enamels to metal and other enameled pieces. Solder pieces together and then enamel them, or rivet enamels without cracking the glass.
Embed wire and other metal shapes into enamel for decoration or to create more connections, including embedding silver wire into enamel and joining enameled pieces together by firing.
And use a wider range of mesh sizes and new ways to sift to create effects in your surfaces that will spice up your enameling repertoire.
After learning the basics of torch fired enameling, it's fun to push the boundaries and break the rules to create different effects, like causing the enamels to separate to make lines and patterns. Anat will demonstrate the use of separation enamel to change the surface and texture of your enamels.
Why take this class?
There is so much to learn about enameling! But it's important to develop your skills so that your work stands apart from others and so that you can find new inspiration. In one weekend Anat will fill your mind with loads of new techniques.
