Lace-like filigree is a beautiful metalwork technique that composes lovely designs from fine wire elements, like braids of twisted wire. When combined with granulation, and soldered together inside a frame or onto sheet metal, these techniques make beautiful jewelry!
This class will cover both traditional and non-traditional methods for using the ancient techniques of filigree and granulation. Learn how to make the granules, how to adhere and solder them to metal to decorate metal surfaces with tiny metal balls. Fabricate frames, make filigree wire, and solder them in place to make your designs. In class students will work with sterling silver, argentium silver and copper.
Kit of materials, full color handout and use of tools included.
