The hinge is such an interesting part of jewelry making. You can use hinges to creae movement between two parts of your design. And of course, a hinge is used to make two parts open, like the lid of a box or opening a bracelet. Join us for this workshop and spend 2 days exploring hinges to add articulation and movement to your jewelry.

Anat will demonstrate how to accurately measure, cut, solder and finish hinges, to make a pair of earrings with bezel settings. But students can also make pendants or other designs that use hinges.

Techniques taught:
• Fabricating a hinge
• Accurate measurement tips
• Texturing
• Soldering the hinge knuckles aligned for the join
• Riveting the hinge in place
• Soldering on earwires
• Light forging

Kit of materials, full color handout and use of tools included with your class. Each student has a jewelry bench to work at with jewelry tools, including a flex shaft, soldering station, and more.
