Make a complete necklace by hand - a pendant with stone settings, custom chain and clasp. Students can model their design on the multi-stone turquoise pendant and necklace, which is the sample for this workshop, but they’re encouraged to design their own necklace using the techniques demonstrated.
The course starts with demos on how to sketch, design and plan a custom necklace. Students design their projects with help from the instructor. Demonstrations on how to cluster multiple bezel settings together, along with decorative elements like twisted wire borders, granules and stamping, comes next. The pendant is finished off with a handmade bail. To compliment the pendant, students will learn how to make a custom links for a chain. These can include some stone settings that echo the design of the pendant. And the necklace is capped off appropriately with a handmade clasp. Three types of clasps will be demonstrated - a toggle, s-hook and a safety clasp, which includes a simple mechanism for snapping a hook into a box.
