Class Instructor: Michael Thee

Michael Thee

Michael Thee shows his art jewelry at galleries and art fairs throughout the Midwest. Underlying all his work, whether its message is playful or serious, is a passion for flawless fabrication techniques that he hopes to share in every class he teaches. Gifted with patience and a quiet sense of humor, he creates a comfortable learning environment that students (especially newcomers to the field) appreciate. Co-teaching classes with him is his partner, Mary Wohlgemuth.

A photographer since age 12, Michael studied fine arts at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. After an apprenticeship with a local goldsmith, he worked as an independent studio jeweler for 10 years. In 2006, Michael graduated with honors from Northeastern Wisconsin Technical College’s jewelry fabrication program.

Michael and Mary’s home studio is in Milwaukee – also home to li’l Emme (mini Aussie shepherd puppy), Booth (French bulldog), TK (the kitten), and a few other characters.
